Through the Decades July 8

On July 8, Bill Kurtis of Through the Decades turns the lens of time back to 1976, when Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to Washington, D.C. during America's bicentennial celebration. Ellee Pai Hong recalls when the shocking truth behind diet drug Fen Phen was revealed in 1997, and Kerry Sayers remembers the series finale in 2000 of Freaks and Geeks. Ellee reminisces on the classic game Twister on the day in 1969 it was granted a U.S. patent. Bill reflects on the story surrounding Cathlyn Wilkerson, who was finally arrested in 1980 after 10 years on the run for her role in a fatal New York townhouse explosion. Ellee goes back to 1996, when the Spice Girls' hit song Wannabe debuted in the U.K. and promptly shot to number one. To close, Kerry profiles actor Kevin Bacon on the day of his birth.
