Roosevelt's Nobel Peace Prize

The first American to win a Nobel Peace Prize was President Theodore Roosevelt. The prize, awarded in 1906, was due to his efforts in brokering a peace deal between Japan and Russia. It symbolized the hope that international diplomacy could bring a “just and lasting peace.”
