First Untethered Spacewalk

After decades of tethered spacewalks it was time to push the bar even further. On February 7, 1984, Bruce McCandless and Robert Stewart became the first astronauts to “walk” in space without restraints. Strapped to jet packs, they gave the term “spacewalk” new meaning.
